Welcome to the internet presentation of Restaurant Michal!

Restaurant Michal is situated in one of the oldest parts of historical Prague on the right bank of Vltava river in Náprstkova Street, only a few steps from the stone archways of Charles Bridge. The presence of Charles Bridge, after a time spent eating great food and drinking, invites for a walk full of beautiful views of Prague Castle. The restaurant building was rebuilt in art Nouveau style in the second half of the 19th century, but the interior suggests that its roots go back to the early Gothic period. The evidence of this is also one of the oldest streets in Prague, Boršov, adjacent to the restaurant.

The restaurant is housed in a fully air-conditioned ground floor which underwent a complete reconstruction in 2012 and consists of three parts with a total of 170 seats.

Our restaurant offers an extraordinary experience in Prague; in the interior, our guests can see contemporary paintings and graphic works of prominent Moravian painters (Joža Úprka, Antoš Frolka, etc.) and displays of hand made historical folk costumes from Western Bohemia across Eastern Slovakia which were professionally and sensitively restored by girls from Uherský Ostroh from the company Lidové Tradice a Řemesla, o.p.s.

In the evening , we hold live folklore shows performed by Alexandr Vrábel's dulcimer band and our dancers. The group started its work in 1997, its members arerecruited from the State Song and Dance Ensemble. Its main focus is folklore from various regions of Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia. The ideas are inspired by collections of František Sušil, František Bartoš, František Poloczek, Leoš Janáček and other collectors of folk songs. The group has travelled a large part of Europe using hand embroidered costumes in their performances. The musicians wear folk costumes from Trenčianské Považie and Uherský Brod and the singers dress in folk costumes from Abelov, Trenčín, Hroznová Lhota, Uherský Ostroh, Dětva a Horehroní. The dancers use genuine folk costumes which represent the region the dance originates from.

In our unique environment combined with great service and gourmet specialities, we can prepare top-level events guaranteed by many years of experience and a number of excellent references.

Our menu features traditional Czech meals as well as international cuisine, but we do not forget about the vegetarians or healthy food lovers too. All our meals are cooked only using genuine fresh ingredients and fragrant herbs. We bake our own bread and we also prepare own confectionery. Ducks and chickens are supplied from family farm of Tůma. As a perfect accompaniment, we serve a wide range of high quality and carefully selected wines of Moravian vineyards, Czech beer and a variety of aperitifs and top shelf spirits, of course.

We hope to keep our customers satisfied and look forward to your visit.

On behalf of the Restaurant Michal team.
