An evening at Michal
Folklore show
A cross-section of folklore from most of the ethnographic regions of Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia – with a dulcimer band and dancers in original folk costumes.
7–10 pm
Original folklore show
The folklore show starts at 7 pm and finishes at 10 pm. During the evening our guests can see a cross-section of folklore from most of the ethnographic regions of Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia. At the end of the performance, guests can sing their own favourite songs.
The experienced dulcimer band led by first violinist Alexandr Vrábel plays throughout the evening. Our dancers wear original folk costumes, always the exact costume of the region the dance comes from.
All the dance choreographies, songs and music are in our own arrangement or were created with professional choreographers. Our dancers rehearsed the current new choreography from the regions of Trenčín and Horehronie under the guidance of professional dancers from the Lučnica ensemble and the SĽUK art ensemble.
The ensemble
The dulcimer band of Alexandr Vrábel
The ensemble started its activity in 1997 and draws its members from the former State Song and Dance Ensemble. It performs folklore from various regions of Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia, drawing its themes and inspiration from the collections of František Sušil, F. Bartoš, F. Poloczek, L. Janáček and other collectors of folk songs.
The band has travelled across much of Europe and performs in original hand-embroidered costumes. The musicians wear costumes from the Kyjovsko region of Moravia. The dancers wear original costumes that belong precisely to the region the dance comes from.
Guests about the show
Thank you for the wonderful performance by Czech artists. It was unreal.
When we come back to Prague, we certainly won't miss a visit to your restaurant, where the dancers perform things never seen before…
It's unbelievable how wonderful the singer's voice is. And the musicians can play just about anything!
